In Ladakh, frontier district Kargil observed complete shutdown against the abrogation of Article 370,35A, bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and demanding the immediate release of political leaders and communication restoration in J&K.

The bandh call was given by Joint Action committee which comprised all religious and political parties. However, BJP unit Kargil has not supported the call while as the BJP unit Drass extended its full support.

Meanwhile, Whole Kargil including Sankoo, Suru, and Drass areas were observed complete shutdown and a deserted view of Kargil Bazaar with all business establishments, Schools, Private Offices remained closed.

Its pertinent to mention here the coordination committee Drass has already rejected the UT status for Ladakh region and they demanded to stay with Jammu and Kashmir UT. This demand was also endorsed by JAC during the meeting with Drass representatives.
